Important Tips For Volkswagen Owners

How do I reset my tire pressure light?

There are different ways to reset your tire pressure light, depending on your Volkswagen model. With some models, you can reset your light through your infotainment screen settings. Look for the Vehicle Status page and scroll through the options until you find Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS). Select the option, set and confirm.

Some Volkswagen models have a designated TPMS button. This button may appear on your steering wheel or in your glove box.

Before you reset your TPMS, it’s important to make sure that your tires are inflated to the correct pressure. If you are unsure of what the correct tire pressure is, consult your Volkswagen Service Advisor.

Why do my brakes start squeaking when I start driving but then the sound goes away?

Certain weather conditions (like rain, humidity or condensation) can cause moisture on your brake pads, and as a result, can cause rust. Rust can create a squeaking sound as the brake turns.

Squeaking might also mean that your brake pads are thin and in need of replacement.

If your brakes need lubricant, it will also cause a squeaking noise.

It’s important to have your brakes checked periodically to ensure that they are always in proper working condition.

Can I keep driving my car with the engine light on?

Your vehicle is still safe to drive if your engine light turns on – just take a moment to notice if your vehicle isn’t driving as normal. This light will appear if there’s a problem somewhere in your vehicle’s emission system. So, even though your car may be driving as normal for now, it’s still important to schedule an appointment to have it looked at. Ignoring this light for an extended period can lead to more serious vehicle issues over time.

How do I get into my car if the key fob battery dies?

Look for a button or latch on your key fob – this little button will release a physical key to get into your vehicle. If you don’t have a lock visible on your door handle, check the underside of the driver door handle.

You’ll find a notch to insert your physical key. Unlock the door, and you’re in!

How do I raise my windshield wipers?

To raise your windshield wipers, your car must be parked and turned off. Next, find your wiper control stalk and hold it down for a few moments. Your wipers will lift, and you can then hinge them away from the windshield.

How does my power tailgate work?

Your vehicle must be turned off in order to operate the power tailgate. Your key fob must also be close to the tailgate (either in your pocket or your hand).

You will also be close enough to open your power tailgate if it functions with a button push.
